Rachel, who was previously a vegetarian, developed her hunting skills thanks to her dad’s teachings. She also admitted she only hunts on the land near her home and with permission.

“I wouldn’t say I’m the glamorous face of hunting. There are thousands of people doing what I do,” Rachel said.

Her hunting lessons began when her father taught her how to catch and skin rabbits when she was only eight years old.

“I used to skin, butcher them and prepare them for Mum’s rabbit stew. The interesting thing was, I was a vegetarian at this point but would happily eat Mum’s rabbit stew.”

Now, the 35-year-old environmental impact assessor hunts anything from pigeons to big-game prey such as deer and boars.

“You place a clean shot straight through the heart and that animal never knew you were there. It didn’t suffer, it wasn’t scared. It didn’t get transported miles and miles to an abattoir,” Rachel added in an interview with The Times.

“When you spend all day finding your food, the last thing you want to do is waste any of it.

“By being a hunter you can still get the nutritional benefits of meat but without the guilt. You do not have the animal welfare issues.”

Defending her profession as a hunter, the woman explained how hunting and killing the animal on your own helps you respect the catch much more than by buying it from the store because you are a part of the entire process.
