Angelina Jolie Donated $1 Million To Feed Hungry Children Amid Coronavirus Pandemic


Angelina Jolie has once again shown her philanthropic side as she donated $1 million to feed hungry children across the States amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As the actress and humanitarian revealed, the funds are going to underprivileged kids who could end up without proper meals following the closure of all schools.

In order to reach at-risk children, the 44-year-old UNHCR Special Envoy made the donation to No Kid Hungry, a charity that has allegedly spent some $2 million on feeding kids from low-income families.

“As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus,” Ms. Jolie said in a statement.

“Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support.”

Angelina’s sizeable donation comes as dozens of prominent figures have been uniting in making generous donations to overcome the pandemic.

One of the Good Samaritans is the former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who donated one million dollars to the Frontline Responders Fund.

In his announcement, the Terminator actor also urged his fans and supporters to follow his example and contribute whatever they can to the common cause – suppressing the pandemic.

“I never believed in sitting on the couch and complaining about how bad things are, I always believed we should all do our part to make things better,” the 72-year-old said in his Instagram video.

“This is a simple way to protect our real action heroes on the frontlines in our hospitals, and I’m proud to be part of it. I donated 1 million dollars, and I hope that all of you who can will step up to support these heroes. Go to the link in my bio to help out.”

Previously, several other prominent figures have come forward with sizeable donations of their own.

Singer and entrepreneur Rihanna has pledged to donate a staggering $5 million to health workers and communities most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

As the 32-year-old ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker revealed, she’d be donating the funds through her charity in order “to immediately mobilize a broad response working with on-the-ground partners.”

According to the Clara Lionel Foundation, one of the main goals of the donation is to ensure that “frontline health workers and marginalized communities” get the resources needed to battle the COVID-19 pandemic and stay safe.

Actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba, on the other hand, has pledged to donate three million diapers to those struggling amid the pandemic.

As the 38-year-old Hollywood actress and the founder of The Honest Company revealed in her Instagram post, her company pledged a massive donation of baby care supplies including millions of diapers among other stuff.

“Snuggling with my littles feeling grateful and emotional as we’ve been adjusting to this new normal – I can’t help but think of all the families with babies & young children who aren’t getting what they need to get by,” Alba wrote in her post accompanied by a photo of her and her son Hayes.

“My company @honest pledged today to donate 3M diapers 20k personal care products and 30k wipes to @baby2baby – but the need for these families includes so much more… #staysafe #practicekindness #sendinglove to you all.”
