CNN’s most standout anchor Anderson Cooper has recently enlarged the Cooper family by getting a son through the help of a surrogate, thus joining the other trailblazing LGBTQ+I celebrities who chose to have children themselves.
And now, in an interview done with a photo shoot at People magazine, the 53-year-old confessed that he was considering the option of having another Cooper child, providing baby Wyatt Cooper with a sibling. The acclaimed journalist said: ‘I need to probably sleep a little bit more and clear my head, but I think it would be great, one day, to have a brother or sister for Wyatt. I haven’t ruled anything out down the road.’
When asked about how he felt about lending a womb from a surrogate, Cooper has agreed with the public’s conjecture that it must have been (and indeed was) ‘incredibly expensive’, difficult and ‘time-consuming’.
.‘I was incredibly lucky to be able to do this. [The surrogate] is an amazing person; her husband, too, is incredible. That she is willing to do this, to enable families who can’t have a child to be able to have a child, is an extraordinary gift.
’ As for the forthcoming potential child, Cooper admitted he might consider adoption from an international background, but the option is at all stops for now, as the whole procedure is at a standstill with the coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the globe.
People magazine had both Coopers on its front page, as the star went on to mention that he wants for his family to have ‘as much privacy as possible’.
At the same interview, Cooper also mentioned his passing thoughts about his late mother, Gloria Vanderbilt. Also, as reiterated from previous interviews, he is still amazed that he could have gotten a child at all, since from the very moment of his realization in being gay at age 12, he never thought the option would be plausible for his life.
He has simplified the moment as a ‘dream come true’
Now he feels like a new person. ‘It feels like my life has actually begun,’ said the star. ‘And I sort of wonder, what was I waiting for? This is a new level of love. It’s unlike anything I’ve experienced, and yet it’s also very familiar and incredibly special and intimate. It’s really extraordinary.’
