A Police force in America used the siren from the movie “The Purge” to warn the residents about the impending curfew.
Many countries around the world have implemented lockdowns in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Some countries require people to stay at home unless they are out for tasks, including work and shopping for essentials items.
There are other countries that introduced curfews to make sure residents stay inside between particular times.
According to reports, Crowley in Louisiana has imposed a curfew between 9:00 pm to 6:00 am in an attempt to limit the coronavirus spread.
The city police informed that residents should expect a siren before the curfew starting; however, they did not mention that it would be different from the normal sirens that they are used to hearing.
The authorities used the siren from the movie The Purge. The movie shows a society where every year, for one night, all laws are suspended for 12 hours.
As you would imagine, we see people transforming from their usual selves into murderous savages for those hours. Residents in the film hear a siren that indicates that the purge is about to start.
So when the police in Crowley used the same siren, you can imagine the residents feeling weird about it. However, Jimmy Broussard, the Police chief of Crowley, said that he had no idea the siren they used was the same from The Purge and accepted that they would never use it again.
K.P. Gibson, the Acadia Parish Sheriff, issues a statement on behalf of the department that read that last night, Crowley Police Department used the Purge Siren as a part of indicating the start of the curfew. The department has received multiple complaints with regard to this.
