It’s normally exciting to see an Amazon delivery vehicle in your neighborhood especially when it’s about to pull up in front of your house. After all, that means the package you’ve ordered and can’t wait to get has finally arrived.
However, civil servant Rebekah Read came home to a rather unsavory and unwelcome package that an Amazon delivery man that left her ‘disgusted.’ This is because the man had been caught defecating in her backyard.
The incident happened just as Rebekah arrived home. The mean had been wearing a high-visibility jacket and she noticed him jump over a fence and into their garden. She was then horrified to see the man squat beside a tree and appeared to poo on the ground.
Rebekah and her brother could only look in disbelief as the still unidentified driver soiled the yard of their Wiltshire house and even left a plastic bag filled with dirty toilet paper.
The driver then jumped back over the fence but Rebekah’s brother was already there waiting to confront him. Her brother said that the driver could barely speak English and had the temerity to claim that he didn’t know what had happened. He also refused to clean up the mess he made.
A complaint to Amazon was in order and Rebekah quickly sent a letter. Fortunately, the popular online store credited her with $120 as recompense for her trouble.
Rebekah said: “Yes it sounds funny but really isn’t.
“He felt the need to hop over our fence and do a poo in our garden and bag up the tissue and throw in the hedge then hops back over the fence and walks off!
“He was confronted and didn’t care about what he had done.
“Disgraceful behavior from an employee of yours and for you to just say you’ll sort it.
“I didn’t order anything that day, I have ordered before and no issues.”
Amazon later confirmed that the driver was an employee at an independent delivery company that subcontracts its services to Amazon.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and how they serve customers.
“We are taking this matter seriously and have reached out to the customer to apologize for the experience and offer our support.”
