Customer Surprised Amazon Was Showing ‘Next Day Delivery’ For A $6 Gift To Be Around $12,000


A 24-year-old Amazon customer, from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, was left shocked when Amazon tried charging her £9,999(Around $12,000) for the next day delivery.

Danielle Long was ordering a £4.99(Around $6) Christmas gift when Amazon tried charging her £9,999 so she could get the gift in time for Christmas.

Initially, she thought it was a joke or some error but later realized that it wasn’t a joke. Amazon was offering her next day delivery for £9,999 while the standard delivery charge of the product is £2.99(Around $3.50).

They were also offering an £8,888(Around $10k) delivery charge for the Nifogo Bedside Pocket for the arrival by Friday.

Kids soft play worker Danielle shared about the incident on Facebook with the caption: “That’s a tough one. I wish it was a joke, really wanted it before Christmas.”

“I was shocked, but I found it funny. I don’t know why the postage was so high. But I think its from a secondary seller through Amazon.”

Facebook users were also left shocked and couldn’t believe Amazon was actually charging £9,999 for the next day delivery.

One user said: ‘Probably high due to the fact the couldn’t guarantee it for Christmas so no one would buy it or quite possibly a system glitch. Glad she saw the funny side of it though.’

Another user wrote: ‘This is literally hilarious hahahaha’ while the third one said: ‘Decisions decisions lol.. Should you pay or not!!!’

When one user asked her, “Did you get it sorted?”, Danielle replied to the user: “Yeah I paid £2.99 and I’ll wait until January.”

An Amazon spokesman said: “All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines, and instances of potential non-compliance will be investigated, with sellers subject to action including potential removal of their account.”
