You may find out a number of winter haters but being allergic is something you usually won’t hear. However, there is this woman who is allergic to winter, and if she doesn’t curl up to something warm, chances are she will die.
Arianna Kent, 21 years old from Canada is prone to cold-induced urticaria. This means that if she comes in contact with anything cold such as breeze or water, and the temperature changes will lead to her being hospitalized.
The reactions due to the winter season on this lady are pretty bad. This is an autoimmune condition which can lead to pin-like hives covering her whole body. These are pretty itchy in nature. However, if the reaction becomes extreme, Arianna will need to undergo different anaphylactic shock reactions.
A time arrived when she had to be hospitalized three times due to the extremity of her symptoms.
The condition is pretty serious, and she says that often people do not take her condition to be serious.
Talking of her experience, she said that not often do people agree on being allergic to cold but it is an extremely rough and serious condition.
She also shared her experience of being treated like crazy by the professionals at the hospital. She said that not many professionals understand her condition of being allergic to cold.
She also told that some of the professionals often say that they understand her being cold but do not really believe her when she says that she is allergic to cold.
Although her being allergic is a serious condition, but the worst part is she lives at a place where the temperature of the place can drop as low as -40 degree Celsius. As a result, she needs to be prepared for everything, and she also has to avoid the air conditioning.
Ariana began to experience the symptoms at the age of 14 when she had to shovel up the snow. Initially, people considered that the symptoms were that of her food allergy, but after the tests, it was found that it is a rare condition that the girl has been suffering from.
Over the past few years, Ariana has been taking measures to bring down the number of times she’s been admitted to the hospital. She changed her diet, and the food shouldn’t be containing histamine. Moreover, she needs to be very careful while wrapping herself warm.
