A plane was forced to turn around after a mother demanded to be reunited with her baby whom she left in the waiting area of the airport.
The staff of the Saudi Airlines jet bound for Kuala Lumpur was shocked after one of the passengers approached them saying her baby was still at the airport and demanded to be reunited with him immediately.
In a short leaked clip, the pilot of the Saudi jet was heard talking to the traffic controllers and asking them for permission to return to the gate at the airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“May God be with us. Can we come back or what?” the pilot asked after confirming the flight number, SV832, with the control center.
“This flight is requesting to come back… a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing,” the pilot added before asking his colleague if he knew of any protocol that specifies how to deal with such a situation.
After a short break, the King Abdul Aziz International Airport operator gave the pilot permission to turn around.
“Okay, head back to the gate. This is totally a new one for us!” the operator said.
While the flight was delayed for nearly an hour due to the incident, it isn’t clear whether the plane had already taken off before it was forced to return or not. It is also unclear how it was possible for the mother to forget or leave her baby and what her story is.
According to Fahad M. Al Barrak, a Saudi national who shared the conversation between the pilot and the operator on Twitter, the mother didn’t forget about her baby. As Barrak claims, she left him with her sister who missed the flight after boarding the wrong bus.
