It’s often surprising just how much apes display certain behaviors that are so human-like.

But like any human dad who’s taking his kids to the theme park, the older baboon takes it all in stride even when one branch accidentally smacks him in the face.point 243 |

Nearly every parent can sympathize with the challenges of keeping watch over a pair of overenthusiastic kids who are just running around jumping at everything and displaying a curiosity that sometimes puts them in danger if you’re not careful.point 211 | 1

But it’s really important for the young of this world to go out and explore because it forms a large part of their early education. Learning things from the classroom or being told something is one thing but experiencing something brings a level of understanding that mere words cannot. This is as true for adults as it is for kids. Put simply, you can read about swimming in a book but you can’t really say you know how to swim until you actually jump into a pool.
