An actress has opened up about her ‘nightmare’ experience as she revealed her nose tip fell off following a botched cosmetic procedure.
24-year-old Gao Liu is an actress from China who suffered recurring infections and necrosis after undergoing minor plastic surgery in an attempt to give her acting career a boost.
According to the girl, who shared her experience with her fans via Weibo, the tip of her nose had completely rotten before falling off after her cosmetic procedure at a Guangzhou clinic.
As the actress explained, her plastic surgeon attempted to reconstruct her nose in a four-hour procedure. What she didn’t know at the time, however, was that the nose job was just the beginning of her ordeal.
In photos the 24-year-old shared after developing infections, she is seen showing off her blackened nose tip while wearing bandages across her nose.
Following the botched procedure, Liu found out that the clinic recommended to her by her friend was in fact not licensed to perform nose jobs.
As a result of the plastic surgery, she not only racked up massive medical bills but is also facing hundreds of thousands in penalties for breaking her contracts by not being able to work for several months.
According to Liu, the failed procedure left her feeling suicidal, whereas she will have to wait for at least one year before she can undergo a correction procedure to restructure her nose.
While the demand for cosmetic procedures in China is booming, so is the increase in unqualified plastic surgeons and shady clinics that are offering potentially-dangerous procedures despite lacking medical certificates.
After Liu’s story went viral, some social media users called for better control of cosmetic procedures whereas others warned people to stay away from body modifications entirely.
“The hospital must be held responsible and severely punished! People need to take this as a warning, cosmetic surgery has its risks,” one person wrote.
Another one suggested that the actress was “gorgeous” prior to the surgery and that there was no need for her to go through all of this.
