The news of the actor’s passing was announced by his wife, Amanda Kloots, who paid the 41-year-old a touching tribute on social media.

“God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth,” Amanda expressed.

“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband.”

In her tribute, Amanda also thanked her husband’s doctor, Dr. David Ng, for being “kind” and “compassionate” and for listening to her requests.

As the grieving widow suggested in her post, her husband had been suffering from the disease for 95 days before his life came to an end.

Kloots first announced her husband had fallen ill back in March when he was put in intensive care due to complications with breathing. Days later, the actor tested positive for COVID-19.

While the condition seemed to start improving at first, Cordero ended up on a ventilator with a new lung infection forcing him to fight for his life.

As Kloots was informed by the doctors later on, her husband’s lungs had been damaged by the killer virus as if he’d been smoking for five decades.

“They’re that damaged. There are holes in his lungs where obviously you don’t want holes to be,” she revealed on April 30.

After undergoing tracheostomy and waking up from an induced coma on May 12, the actor was in an “extremely weak” state and continued to suffer from complications with lungs.

“He can’t talk because of the ventilator and he can’t move because he’s so weak. But he’s awake and he’s in there. He can answer questions with yes or no with his eyes,” Kloots revealed in an Instagram post back in June when she was finally allowed to visit her husband at the hospital.

While Cordero’s condition had slightly improved according to his wife’s recent updates, the actor eventually succumbed to the disease.

May he rest in peace.
