Activists Dumped Red Dye In Fountain And Accused The Government Of Having Blood On Their Hands


Two animal rights activists were arrested after spilling blood-red dye into a city fountain in a protest against the government and the “climate-destructive and exploitative industries.

The incident occurred in London, UK, where demonstrators gathered at the Trafalgar Square to express their opinions about the pandemic and vegan lifestyle while accusing the government of having blood on their hands.

Two of the Animal Rebellion activists had also entered the fountain located at the square before spilling dye that turned the water blood-red.

Standing in the colored water, the two protesters held up signs that read “The government has blood on their hands” and “People over profit?”

Sharing their messages were also other protesters of whom some were wearing animal costumes and wielding placards suggesting that the pandemic could be avoided by going vegan and that ending animal farming is the way to prevent future pandemics.

After the incident, the two protesters who dyed the water in the fountain were arrested “on suspicion of criminal damage” according to London Metropolitan Police.

Taking responsibility for the protest was Animal Rebellion who shared videos and updates about the protest on their Twitter account.

“Animal Rebellion have now dyed the Trafalgar Square fountains red, symbolizing the blood that is on the hands of the UK Government,” the group wrote in one of their posts.

“We are here today to demand that the government prevent future pandemics by ending animal farming and transitioning to a plant-based food system.”

In another protest, accompanied by a picture of a protester standing in the red-colored water of the fountain, Animal Rebellion wrote:

“The UK Government must protect the people, not support climate-destructive and exploitative industries.”
