The blind elderly dog who got abandoned after giving birth to a litter of puppies has finally found a forever home following her story going viral on social media.
Dumpling the 10-year-old Labrador has captured the hearts of animal lovers after Labrador Rescue announced she was looking for a forever home after being dumped by her previous owner.
“Unfortunately, I was dumped at the pound at 10 years old, blind, overweight and alone. Since being in care I have lost over 13 kg so I would like a new family to help me stay on this weight loss journey,” Labrador Rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
“As you can tell I have no eyes; I had to lose them as they were causing me a lot of pain. I don’t need much in life, just a nice warm home in which to enjoy my last few years.”
After Dumpling’s story went viral, dozens of people filed applications to adopt the sweet pooch.
“Our little Dumpling has become a massive social media star, her story has been shared far and wide by our supporters, celebrities, news sites, it’s been overwhelming!” the rescuers added in an update.
Now, the 10-year-old Labrador has already adjusted to her new life and her loving owners, the Ingebrigtsen family from Queensland, Australia.
In addition, Dumpling now has a dog brother, another Labrador named Bob, who loves to play with her and guide her around their home.
“She’s adorable, we’re really grateful that we’ve been given the opportunity to look after her and give her the wonderful life that she deserves,” Debbie Ingebrigtsen said in an interview with Seven News.
