Jeopardy is a famous American television show that features a quiz competition in which contestants are presented with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and they are asked to phrase their responses in the form of questions.
Alex Trebek, a 79 years old host of Jeopardy, got choked up when a contestant shared a heartfelt message during the show. This message melted the hearts of many, as Trebek is being treated for pancreatic cancer these days.
Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer back in March. He disappeared from the show during his treatment and joined the show again in August.
On this Monday’s episode, one of the contestants came up with a message “We Love you, Alex!” that was really appreciated by the audience and Alex himself.
The name of the contestant is Dhruv Gaur, who was asked to name 1890 expose about poverty in New York.
This amazing incident happened during the “Final Jeopardy” round. When Trebek prepared himself to read the Gaur’s answer, instead of seeing an answer, it was a message stating “We Love you, Alex!” Gaur tweeted on Twitter that when Final Jeopardy came up, he could have tried to puzzle it together, but he was continuously thinking about Alex.
Contestants were wearing purple ribbons to support pancreatic cancer awareness. When the music of the Final Jeopardy countdown ended, Trebek started, “Dhruv, you’re smiling. I like that. Let’s take a look at your response.
Did you come up with the right one? No? What is, ‘We love you, Alex,'” Trebek said, his voice thickening with emotion. “That’s very kind of you. Thank you.”.
This was really a wonderful sight, as emotions were all around the audience. This is how Dhruv has shown to Alex his love. It is basically the voice of the whole community having love and care for Alex.
No doubt, fighting against any type of cancer requires support from family, relatives, and community. Moreover, the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions participants is organizing a c charitable play to help fight against pancreatic cancer.
