The petition to remove Amber Heard from the Aquaman sequel has reached a new high and became one of the most signed petitions ever.
While fans of the Hollywood star are anxiously waiting for her ex-husband’s defamation trial to continue, more than four million people have already signed the petition to remove the actress from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
As the creators of the petition argue, there is overwhelming evidence suggesting that Heard “demonstrated a repeated pattern” of violence against Johnny Depp.
Following Heard’s allegations, the actor was kicked from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and allegedly lost at least $25 million as a result of canceled projects.
As film journalist Grace Randolph confirmed just days ago, a source confirmed that the actress will get less than ten minutes of screen time in the upcoming Aquaman sequel which is set to air in 2023.
Heard’s critics, however, have threatened to boycott the movie should the actress not be removed from it entirely.
The petition addressed to DC Warner Bros and DC Entertainment has since already reached more than four million signatures, making it one of the most viral petitions on change.org ever.
The new record comes as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are preparing to return to the court where it’s the actress’s turn to take the stand and face cross-examination by Depp’s lawyers.
Though the trial normally took place Monday through Thursday since its beginning on April 12, this week is an exception due to Judge Penney S. Azcarate’s absence.
The proceedings will continue on May 16 and both parties are set to make their closing arguments on May 27.
“As Mr. Depp’s counsel correctly predicted in their opening statements last month, Ms. Heard did indeed deliver ‘the performance of her life’ in her direct examination,” Depp’s spokesperson said as the actor’s lawyers are preparing to cross-examine the actress.
“The upcoming cross-examination from Mr. Depp’s team will be most telling, and will certainly highlight the many fallacies Ms. Heard has now attempted to pass off as fact throughout her convoluted testimony.”
