Amy Schumer has lashed out at Will Smith and opened up about the joke that she was banned from saying during the Oscars.
The 40-year-old stand-up comedian and actress accused Will Smith of toxic masculinity during her Saturday night show at Las Vegas’ Mirage Theater.
Speaking of the night of the 94th Academy Awards, Schumer revealed she was feeling confident up to the moment King Richard star notoriously slapped presenter Chris Rock in the face.
“I was kind of like, feeling myself. I was like, ‘Oooh, somebody’s monologue went well,’” the Trainwreck star said as she recalled her Oscars opening monologue.
“And then all of a sudden Ali [a reference to Will Smith’s 2001 drama movie Ali] was making his way up.
“And it was just a f***ing bummer. All I can say is that it was really sad, and I think it says so much about race, about toxic masculinity. It’s just everything.”
Schumer then went on to tell the audience a joke about Alec Baldwin that she allegedly “wasn’t allowed” to say during the Oscars as per the legal advice of her lawyers.
“It was really upsetting, but I think the best way to comfort ourselves would be for me to say the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t allowed to say on TV,” she added.
“Don’t Look Up is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun.”
During her stand-up performance, Schumer also took a jab at James Franco and Joe Rogan as she revealed she wasn’t allowed to joke at their expense either.
“I wasn’t allowed to say any of that [at the Oscars], but you can just come up and [slap] someone,” the 40-year-old added.
