A grandmother who had five heart attacks and two strokes is already running out of time to find a new home as she is being forced to move out before New Year’s Eve.
55-year-old Julie James Plasmarl, Swansea, said she is being forced to leave her rented house by the end of the year but she still couldn’t find a new roof over her head.
Speaking to Wales Online, she said that she put her name on numerous housing lists in a desperate attempt to find a new place to stay.
Julie also shared that her 77-year-old mother Sandra recently passed away from a stomach aneurysm.
“That hit me really hard, none of us saw it coming,” she expressed.
“It’ll be my first Christmas without her, the first I don’t spent at hers for dinner. I still can’t really believe she’s gone.”
The grandmother said that in July, she received a Section 21 notice, which under the Housing Act 1988, gives property owners the right to reclaim vacant possession of their property once the fixed term tenancy expired.
“I’ve lived here nearly four years and I’ve done lots to the place, tried to make it my own,” Julie said. “So the thought of having to find somewhere else has really impacted on my own health, especially in the last few months.
“My anxiety has got worse and worse and I was in hospital myself a fortnight ago following an angina attack.
“On top of that, my 82-year-old dad Clive isn’t very well either. All of it is really getting to me at the moment. And the likelihood of me finding a new place in the little time I’ve got left is looking slimmer by the day.
“I swear, I can’t even think straight with the stress.”
