Dutch police had a clash with more than 200 protestors after Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced the return of lockdown in the country after seeing a sudden increase in the Covid-19 daily cases.
During the clash, the protestors were attacked by water cannons as they were throwing stones and fireworks on the police, and there was no other way the police could stop them.
The protest started peacefully but turned into chaos when the protestors went beyond the limit and started throwing flares, projectiles, and bicycles at the police.
According to the conditions of the partial lockdown, shops, restaurants, and bars will be closed at 8 pm, and all social distancing measures are mandatory for every citizen.
This lockdown has been imposed for three weeks now.
Major sporting events will happen behind closed doors. Non-essential retailers, supermarkets, cafes, and nightclubs will be closed earlier.Although the death ratio in Netherland is relatively low, the doctors have warned people because the highest number of patients with this infection was recorded on the previous Friday.
Coronavirus infections in Netherland have been increasing rapidly in the previous month.
Last year in December, almost 13,000 cases were confirmed on a single day, and that was the previous highest record, but on this Friday, the number of Covid patients in the Netherland topped 16,000 in a single day.Almost 85% adult Dutch population is vaccinated.
Nearly 18,695 people died, and 2,27 million Covid-19 patients were recorded in Netherland since the pandemic started.In Austria, a similar case happened, and police had to deal with protestors after the lockdown was re-imposed.
