Sobie Meats welcomes a new employee, who is very charismatic and also cheery.
Tyler Huisman, the newest team member of Sobie Meats, has Down syndrome and is spreading a lot of love and positivity!
“I’m very excited. I hope he sticks around for a while,” Missy Devries of Sobie Meats expressed.
Tyler’s sister Anna Marie thanked Sobie Meats on Facebook, writing: “A few weeks ago I went into Sobie Meats and asked Tim Sobie if he had odd jobs that Tyler could do. He hired Tyler right away and he started working the following week.
“Tim & Theresa and all of their employees have been so helpful and patient with Tyler and everyone tells me how much they love him there when I pick him up.”
Marie continued: “Not a lot of people give chances to individuals with Down Syndrome because they simply don’t know much about them. Businesses like this deserve to be acknowledged for giving him a chance to prove that he can work just as hard as anyone else.
“As if we didn’t love Sobies enough already for the support they have continuously shown for local law enforcement & their community.
“If you haven’t already, go check them out, especially on Friday’s when this guy is there.”
You will find Tyler at Sobie Meats sanitizing shopping carts, helping with carry out, and washing dishes every Friday.
“I think we all look forward to Friday’s! He always seems to be coming in with a happy person smile on his face, and brings a lot of positivity!” Devries expressed.
Tyler’s co-workers also say that his spirit is very contagious.
“He’s part of the team now,” Devries added. “So I think we’ve made a friend, and I hope Tyler makes a lot of friends here.”
One Facebook user commented: “Way to go Ty!! You look great in that uniform!!”
Another wrote: “Gosh i fricken love SOBIE!”
A third said: “Congratulations Tyler, I’m sure you will be prefect like you were at the YMCA. Miss working with you but again congrats on the new job.”
