With a great deal of enthusiasm, scientists of the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) have officially declared that the hollow in the ozone layer, which was created especially in the Arctic region, has finally restored.
The chief reason, for which this particular hole was being made, was not due to any human activities, but, primarily due to the powerful polar vortex, which has remained in existence for quite a long time.
Scientists of the CAMS are also stressing upon the fact that the cause behind the repairing of this hole is not due to the reducing pollution due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
In spite of all this, it’s wonderful news for all, one of the chief scientists of the CAMS has exclaimed.
What’s more? A hollow has also taken place in the Antarctic region for the past three and a half decades, but, the good news is, it seems to get smaller and even smaller with the passage of time, and, hopefully, there will be another great news quite soon.
Besides, the reducing amount of pollution as a result of the Coronavirus shutdown has nothing to do with the eradication of the Ozone layer hollow in the Arctic region.
Well, whatever the reason may be, the ozone layer hole of the Arctic has finally come to an end, and, all of us should feel happy about it.
Antara Banerjee, who is the chief writer of this information, and, who is also a part of the Chemical Sciences Division of NOAA has given the entire credit to Montreal Protocol, a treaty, which takes effective measures to find out the causes, leading to the depletion of the ozone layer, and, takes beneficial actions accordingly.
She also added that the Ozone layer exists 22 miles above the surface of our planet, and, provides us protection from the harmful UV radiation.
A scientist who has made this mission successful has also said that a few changes in the quality of air have also taken place in the Arctic zone, and, again they have nothing to with the eradication of its ozone layer hollow.
