A 6-month-old girl has overcome COVID-19 while battling medical problems with her heart and lungs.
Adorable Erin Bates was recovering from a major surgery due to issues with her windpipe and heart when the baby was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Tiny Erin was photographed recently in a high-dependency unit in Liverpool at Alder Hey Hospital where she was wearing an oxygen mask and was surrounded by machine.
The family shared her heart-breaking photos to encourage people to stay indoors and follow social distancing measures.
The family heard great news a few days back that the courageous little fighter has beaten the disease.
Her father, Wayne, took to Facebook to inform that her daughter has fought the virus and although the virus hit her hard, they wanted the people to know COVID-19 is not necessarily a death sentence for those with pre-existing conditions.
He added that the teeny-tiny human is all smiles as well as talking to herself. Wayne explained that although his dear daughter would be a long-term patient because of other medical conditions, he and his wife Emma were relieved and proud of little Erin.
He had also praised Alder Hey’s staff.
Emma also shared on Facebook that their daughter has beaten COVID-19 which made the parents feel proud. The diagnosis had been hard on the family because as per the coronavirus rules, only one of them could be in the hospital with the little one.
Emma chose to be in the hospital while her husband went back to his home in Greater Manchester’s Bury where he self-isolated himself because of contact with the baby. They kept in contact through Facetime and phone calls.
Alder Hey has also shared the news and said that people may have heard about the 6-months-old baby who was in the hospital after being tested positive for the coronavirus.
The hospital noted that the little one was in their isolation room with her mother for 14 days but had tested negative for the disease recently.
