Allen Jacobs, a police officer at Greenville, took her pregnant wife for a morning ultrasound.
He dropped her off at their home and went back to his duty. A couple of hours later, Meghan’s phone rang, she was asked to come to the hospital as soon as she can.
She rushed to the hospital. She was then told that her husband, Allen died when he was on duty. The incident happened in March 2016.
After a few months of Allen’s death, Meghan decided to do a maternity photo shoot in honor of her husband. Meghan was pregnant with their third child; it was a baby girl named Lennox. She was due with the baby in July.
The photo shoot was six hours long. It started off with Meghan’s mother and her pictures that later included other police officers. They took 600 pictures in total.
Jessie Ellex, the photographer and a very good friend of Meghan told ABC news that when the officers arrived at 7:30 p.m., He was fighting back his tears.
Ellex posted the photo shoot online, and to no surprise, it went viral. The picture shows co-officers and a police dog. The pictures also have Allen’s police car, his uniform, his badge, and the flag that covered his coffin.
She wanted to keep her husband’s memory alive for herself and her children, so she made all the officers write letters about Allen to her kids. She did this because she wanted her kids to know of their father’s great work when they grow up.
