A 17-year old teenager who was diagnosed with coronavirus is pleading other youngsters to not risk meeting up with friends and spreading the virus after he was infected by it despite believing that he was untouchable.
Brandon Fay from Ireland said that initially, he thought that it was just his asthma acting up, but later, he was admitted to the Mater hospital located in Dublin.
Fay told Dublin Live that he thought he was untouchable by the virus because he was a teenager and never considered that it would infect him.
He added that the teenagers who are going to cycling in groups, sleepovers with their friends, heading to the beaches, and hanging out; it is not worth the risk.
He said that while the youngsters will be able to survive the virus, the people they spread to like their parents and grandparents may not be able to. So it is not worth spreading the virus by being outside.
Brandon first saw the symptoms on March 25th, 2020, and went for a routine check-up in the hospital the next day. Just like a majority of people, he could not figure out how he contracted the virus.
He was getting out of breath, which he thought was his asthma, but the nurse had him checked for the virus. He revealed that his O2 and blood pressure levels were really high, and within a matter of 30 minutes, he was admitted to an isolation ward.
He said that he was constantly short of breath and lost his appetite completely. Brandon spent three days in the isolation ward and the next three days with two other coronavirus patients.
He said that he was very nervous and nobody was allowed to see or visit him. Brandon praised the hospital staff and said that they deserve more recognition for the efforts they are putting right now.
