Two members of the National Guard were gunned down near the White House on their first day in uniform on Wednesday.
Andrew Wolfe and Sarah Beckstrom were both said to be battling for their lives after a gunman opened fire on the West Virginia guards, as stated in the press conference.
It’s believed that both Sarah and Andrew were sworn in less than a day before they were shot on the streets of Washington, nearly 800 yards away from the White House.
The Trump-appointed official detailed more about how the suspected shooter would now be facing first-degree murder charges if either of the victims does not survive.
Attorney General Pam Bondi also explained how two guard members underwent surgery but failed to offer more details linked to their personal health.
Sources shared how Sarah’s father declared that doctors did not expect her to survive, as the mortal wound was just too much for her body to bear, and he asked for prayers during this difficult time. Meanwhile, Andrew has undergone brain surgery and will be kept in the ICU to see his progress. Again, his condition is critical.
Lakanwal, who is the Afghan man responsible for the cowardly shooting, is believed to have been living in Washington, and he fled to America during the Taliban takeover of his country in the year 2021.
He applied for asylum in 2024, which was accepted by the Trump administration in April this year.
