A circus acrobat from Ukraine has reportedly passed away at the age of 28 after falling from a rooftop swimming pool at a luxury villa inside the Chalong district of Phuket, Thailand.

The victim was identified as Veronika Kobzova, who fell at about 3:30 am, when she had been drinking beer with two friends. She apparently walked along the edge of the rooftop pool and made a misstep, plunging about 50 feet to an alley below.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead at about 4 am, less than an hour after the fall, having sustained severe head and chin injuries.

Police at the Chalong Police Station reported that the pool edge lacked adequate safety barriers, and authorities are currently investigating potential negligence in the villa’s construction or rental safety compliance.

There is no indication of foul play at this stage; the incident appeared to be just a tragedy, authorities mentioned. “Veronika, we will always remember you. I love you, our whole family is in mouring!”- the message from her family read.

Pictures showed the rooftop pool without any barriers, and the police are currently investigating the matter in detail.
