TV presenter Lorraine Kelly was seen getting criticized by viewers after misgendering Sam Smith during an awkward encounter segment about their Barbie premiere look.
Last night, the Unholy singer Sam made a stop on the London Pink Carpet for the movie, dressed in an oversized black sweatshirt and oversized flared light blue jeans.
Most of the stars attending the premiere chose to wear Barbie-inspired outfits, while Sam went for a look that was more on the casual side.
During Thursday’s episode of Lorraine, she and guest Vogue Williams continued to discuss outfits for the premiere during the fashion segment.
Lorainne referred to Sam, who came out as non-binary in 2019 and prefers to be referred to with they/them pronouns with male pronouns.
The ITV segment saw Lorraine continuously call them a fella as well as he and him. Looking at the picture of their premiere outfit, the star mentioned: ‘Oh, he’s dressed down!’ But it did not stop there as she continued to do it over and over again, making some question the reason behind this.
She continued: ‘It’s a bit big for him. If he were my son, I would say, ‘Son, that was a bit big for you.’ He looks like the wee shrinking man, bless him’- she added.
