Believe it or not, US President Donald Trump has gone on to express extreme regret at not being allowed to run for a third term as US President.
He acknowledged the limits laid out in the US Constitution after musings about serving beyond his mandate. ‘If you read it, it’s all pretty clear!’- Trump shared with reporters on Wednesday on board Air Force One while en route from Japan to South Korea. “I am not allowed to run, it’s just too bad!’ – he mentioned.
The comments come just a day after the US President mentioned he was not ruling out the possibility of seeking a third term for the White House, adding how he would love to do it.
The US Constitution’s 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two terms, and Trump began his second one in January.
Changing that with a new amendment would be a decade-long process that requires winning over the states as well as the votes inside the Congress, experts claim.
Last week, Steve Bannon spoke about a possible plan being drafted to make sure that the 79-year-old president could run for this additional term. But many claim that would be impossible.
