New York has currently become one of the key gathering places of the No Kings protests occurring in Times Square, where hundreds of thousands of Americans have arrived.
Demonstrators chanted slogans against Trump and also wore anti-Trump hats and shirts and carried posters against the President, demanding he step down.
Many voiced thoughts on how they were against the rising authoritarianism of Trump and said it was about time he took a step back and avoided behaving like a king in a country known for its democratic powers.
The event was a part of the nationwide series of protests spanning more than 2500 locations across America. At Times Square, the mood was called out to be largely peaceful and symbolic, where organizers kept emphasizing more on keeping it non-violent and peaceful.
The themes raised by protesters included disapproval of federal immigration raids, deployment of national guard troops in different cities, and a call to centralize power.
Several Republican officials also criticized the protests as anti-American or extremist in nature, though organizers found the actions to be patriotic and rooted in the defense of democratic governance.
Events are scheduled in more than 2700 locations today, and authorities are put on alert to combat any kind of violence that might take center stage.
