President Donald Trump’s demands to attain the Nobel Peace Prize are now being met with plenty of laughs across Europe, according to a new report.
79-year-old Trump has lobbied hard to be awarded the prize by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, but the Financial Times reports that few in Oslo feel that the president has a real chance of getting this honor when the winner is shared on Friday.
The prize committee will comprise a human rights advocate and a foreign policy expert, and three former ministers. And they are not expected to look kindly on Trump’s ordering of American troops to patrol the streets of the US under Democratic leadership.
Another lateral move for Trump’s hopes of winning is his symbolic renaming of the Department of Defense to the Department of War, as shared by an unnamed European diplomat recently who spoke to the Financial Times regarding this.
Trump winning this prestigious honor would send out a strange signal, and as per a leading UK newspaper, Trump’s assertion that he has ended seven wars in just seven months is a bit far-stretched and won’t carry face value across the pond.
