The newly elected mayor of a town in the Western Germany region was found with lift threatening injuries as sources claim he was stabbed on Tuesday.
Investigators revealed that there appeared to be no kind of evidence left so far about a political motive behind this incident. Therefore, they suspect that it might have to do with a family connection related to the attack.
Iris Stalzer was elected to be the mayor of Herdecke on September 28 and she’s the mayor of the center left social democrats, which happens to be a junior party in Germany’s conservative led national government.
Stalzer was found at her residence with life-threatening injuries shortly after 1 pm, as confirmed by both the police and prosecutors.
The 57-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital by helicopter. However, the nature and severity of the wounds were yet to be shared as the leader’s group is staying hush and waiting for investigations to take place before going public with more details.
On Tuesday afternoon, they shared with reporters how they heard a few minutes back that a newly elected Mayor was stabbed and then revealed the identity without diving into further details.
