A 14-year-old boy was arrested after six people were shot on a busy street in Sweden.
Gunfire broke out at nearly 2 am on Saturday in Gavle, which is an area lined with bars and restaurants, resulting a huge emergency response.
Images show police swarming the city center and cordoning off streets as victims were rushed into ambulances. The teen is being held on suspicion of attempted murder and is due to be questioned later today, the cops shared.
The victims, mostly young victims but including those under 18, were rushed to the hospital, as per a spokesperson. The extent of the injuries has yet to be revealed, but at least three people with gunshot wounds ran into a cafe to get shelter as the attack unfolded, as per local reports.
The cops added how they were working broadly and cannot confirm that there was any connection to a criminal network environment.
The incident is currently being investigated as attempted murder. At the moment, the cops claimed they have a huge resource on site in this area, so the assessment is that there is no danger to the public. Therefore, they understand that many individuals might be concerned. Police also shared how there was no immediate danger to the public at this moment in time.
