Dutch actor Eline Van der Velden has shared more details about how several talent agencies are now lining up to represent her AI-generated actress creation, who goes by the name Tilly Norwood.
Tilly made her screen debut amid a lot of backlash online, including a two-minute comedy sketch where many Hollywood celebs expressed outrage over the matter.
The fact that Van der Velden wanted to make Tilly the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman had people upset. They couldn’t understand the fact as to how such a real-looking person was actually a fake, made using AI.
Others laughed off the matter, stating that the realistic nature of such products endangers their jobs in Hollywood.
Some actors, like Melissa Barrera, referred to the matter as gross, and others urged them to drop any agency that signed up with Tilly.
The fact that hundreds of people’s faces were being glued together to make her was another reason why many celebs felt it was wrong and unfair.
Since then, SAG-AFTRA rolled out a statement on the matter, calling Tilly ‘synthetic’ and someone who’s trained on countless actors’ work without permission or compensation.
‘It’s creating the issue of using stolen performances to put actors out of work, jeopardizing performer livelihoods and devaluing human artistry’- the post read.
