The state of Oregon filed a federal lawsuit on Sunday against Trump and his administration, aiming to block the deployment of National Guard troops.
The lawsuit comes just hours after Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared his plans to deploy nearly 200 members of the Oregon National Guard into federal service for two months.
The lawsuit filed says that such a movie is patently unlawful. Meanwhile, the Attorney General for the state of Oregon, Dan Rayfield, mentioned how Hegseth’s move threatens to undermine public safety by inciting a public outcry.
Trump shared how ICE agencies were under siege at this moment in time, adding how he was planning to direct the Department of Defense to provide all necessary troops to protect war-ravaged Portland.
Rayfield further mentioned how this behavior was ‘un-American’ to make use of the US Military against US citizens during a press conference on Sunday.
‘I told our staff that the moment we got notice of such a deployment, I wanted to be in court with a lawsuit filed within 12 hours, ‘ Rayfield added. ‘We have filed a lawsuit to ensure the state of Oregon and its values are protected at all times, less than six hours from the moment that we got the notice’- Governor Tina Kotek boldly confirmed through her X account.
