Jimmy Kimmel’s show will only return if he continues to meet three conditions that were laid down after his controversial comment on Charlie Kirk.
According to reports from local media outlets, the star was suspended for an indefinite period of time on Wednesday, which was confirmed by America’s largest ABC affiliate group, Sinclair.
The news comes after political activist and Donald Trump’s ally, Charlie Kirk, was fatally shot in the neck at a debate at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kimmel was seen addressing the situation at the start of one of his recent episodes of the long-running show.
In a statement, Sinclair detailed more about the steps Kimmel would need to take in order for his show to return. The company made it so clear that the suspension wouldn’t be lifted until formal discussions are held with the ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
Sinclair also called upon the star to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family and also make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA. Kimmel has yet to address the entire situation himself.
