The Late Show with Stephen Colbert claimed the huge award for Outstanding Talk Series at this year’s 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday.
The audience at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles was seen rising to its feet when Colbert hit the stage, chanting loudly, Stephen! Stephen! Stephen!
The news about the win comes nearly two months after Stephen Colbert announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert would be putting an end to its 10-year-long marathon of seasons, despite outcry from the general public for more.
‘I would like to thank CBS for giving us the privilege to be a part of this late-night tradition!’- he mentioned, while hoping that this tradition continues despite them not doing the show anymore. It was interesting for some to see him thanking the studio despite the cancellation of the show.
‘Personally, I would like to thank my beautiful and brilliant wife, Evelyn, who is the real brains behind my outfit for this evening and my three kids, Madeline, Peter, and John’- the star continued.
After that, he was seen mentioning more about how ‘sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it! In September, my friends, I have never loved my country more desperately. God Bless America. Stay strong and be brave, and if the elevator tries to bring you down, then go crazy and punch a higher floor!’- he concluded.
