Top White House officials are believed to be in talks over a potential job for Eric Adams in President Trump’s administration.
The news comes as pressure mounts for mayoral candidates to drop out and clear the lane for the strongest challenger against socialist Zohran Mamdani, as revealed by The Post.
The chats about the potential plum gig for Adams, entailing an ambassadorship, were seen taking place among some top-level Trump officials as polling revealed the mayor in fourth place in the approaching November election, as per sources.
Adams landing a job in the Trump administration would be seen as a golden parachute or ticket that would benefit former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is increasingly seen as the best candidate to oppose Mamdani. “I think Adams would be able to produce a position and portfolio that is more suitable to his liking’- a close source shared with the Trump administration.
Another source close to the mayor’s orbit confirmed how his team had pushed him to take the federal golden parachute, but Adams appeared like he hadn’t been fully bought in.
“I have a job, I am running for re-election, I am still doing that. And I am looking forward to getting re-elected,” Adams mentioned to reporters when he asked about the discussions during an unrelated press conference on Wednesday.
