The Polish CEO who was caught on camera snatching a signed hat off a child at the US Open admitted he made a major mistake after the viral footage turned him into an international villain.
Piotr Szczerek who is the boss for paving stone company Drogbruk, said he felt tennis star Kamil Majchrzak was signing the hat for him to give to his sons when he appeared to grab the cap from the little guy.
“I would like to unequivocally apologize to the boy who was harmed, his family, as well as all the fans and the player himself,” he mentioned on Instagram.
“I made a major mistake, and I do regret that. In the emotions, in the crowd’s joy after the victory, I was so convinced that the tennis star was handing the cap in my direction, for my sons, who had earlier asked for autographs,”- he shared.
“It’s painful but necessary and a lesson in humility that I’d always remember,”- he continued.
The Polish CEO has been at the center of the controversey for quite some time now and went viral last week but he’s now apologized and hopes the world can stop making this matter into a global scandal.
