Donald Trump has signed some major plans for the National Guard soldiers who will now be dispersed to several key states.
The latest decision for the deployment of the military will see close to 1700 National Guard soldiers being activated across the US. These troops would be mobilized from August until at least the middle of November, with so many ready to be stationed across the state of Texas.
Other locations that would be seeing the National Guard moving forward include Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Virginia, and Tennessee.
An official from the Pentagon shared more about this move and how these soldiers would be used to deter individuals from carrying out crimes.
The official mentioned how they won’t be speculating on whether the National Guard could be branching out to different states.
They added: “We will not be speculating about the further operations, but can tell you that the department is a planning organization and keeps on working and planning with other partners and agencies to ensure all federal assets and personnel stay guarded”- they continued.
The main objective of these soldiers would be to help ICE with the Department of Homeland Security. This is at a time when the President shared that he would be tough on crime and illegal immigration.
The next few steps follow on from when the National Guard was deployed in Washington after the President took to social media to insist that he wished to make the state great again.
