President Zelensky of Ukraine has reportedly been asked by the White House to show up in a suit for his meeting with Trump.
The news comes after the President of the US complained during his last visit to the US about his attire. One of Trump’s advisers said that it would be a good gesture if he showed up in a suit, all dressed up. However, sadly, that’s not the case so far. He’s back in his casual wear, the famous black shirt and pants that he’s known for, while visiting an advisor in DC today.
The stage has been set for a showdown between Zelensky and several other members of NATO, including Germany and the UK, who will be accompanying him on this visit. The goal is to put an end to the war, and Trump has made it very clear what the Ukrainian leader has to do to achieve this.
Two clauses put down by Trump included avoiding discussions related to NATO and also avoiding talks about Crimea. Ideas about possible exchanges in land were also made, but it does not seem like Ukraine is ready to settle for anything less, as they want simple peace and a ceasefire.
This meeting comes right after the disastrous one where Trump failed to secure any kind of peace deal or ceasefire agreement with Putin during a high-profile event in Alaska. Many felt Putin played Trump like a fiddle, and that’s when Trump shared that no deal had yet been made.
He told Zelensky that the ball was in his court and he needed to make the right decision to attain peace.
