The White House continued its cultural crackdown on the Smithsonian this past week.
They were seen pressuring the entire institution to review the exhibits and other operations that align with them and President Trump’s view of American history.
On Tuesday, The Wall Street Journal shared more details through a letter sent by three top officials from the White House to the Smithsonian secretary. As per the outlet, the letter followed up on the directives laid down regarding Trump’s executive order from March 27.
This was called Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History, which seemed to be targeting the Smithsonian museums by name.
The order read: ‘Once widely respected as a symbol of American excellence and global icon of cultural achievement, the Smithsonian institution has, in recent times, come under the influence of a divisive and race-centered ideology’. This shift promoted the narratives that display both the values of the West and the US as inherently dangerous and very oppressive in nature.
The new letter from the White House offers more specifics about how the Smithsonian could attain alignment through the President’s vision. Another shocking part is how Trump’s name was removed from the list of impeached presidents after MAGA seized control of the museums.
