A grandma was curious to know what all the fuss was about after authorities issued a tsunami alert and opted to take her grandson to the coast for a closer look.
The woman was said to be watching the local news in Peru on Wednesday when she found out about the scary advisory triggered by a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit off the Russian peninsula.
She mentioned how she got dressed and dragged her grandson from her residence in Chorrillos, Lima, to a nearby area overlooking the sea in the hopes of seeing the tsunami form.
During her interview, she said that she wished to see something that she had never seen before, and in this case, it was the tsunami. She also tagged her grandson along in the hopes that he would learn and see something, too. She appeared to downplay the impact of this warning when asked if she was scared. This was right after rushing towards the water at a time when many were running away from it.
The grandma shared: ‘Well, they told us that it’s something that can be prevented and it’s not a high risk at all, right?’ She also said there was nothing wrong with her actions because where was low risk, it’s a precaution, so you don’t really know how high those waves would be.
