Ozzy Osbourne’s poor health did come as a shock to his Black Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler, who is breaking his silence on the star’s farewell show.
The bassist deteailed more about how Ozzy’s final concert performance took him by surprise on July 5. He added how startled it was to see Ozzy in a frail state. The iconic rocker needed the assistance of three people while he was taking part in rehearsals, not to mention how he had to sit down while he was singing.
‘I knew that he was not in good health or shape, but I was not prepared for how frail he had become’- Butler shared. He was also assisted in the rehearsal room by two helpers and a nurse and was using a cane.
He also added how the star did not say too much beyond the usual greetings and whenever he sang, he sat on a chair. ‘We ran through songs but we could see that it was turning out to be an exhausting ordeal for him’- he continued.
Butler also shared how the rockstar was not very talkative and unlike his usual self. While they did continue to have a few chats, it was nothing like the older times, he recalled.
The final show took place in Birmingham where the band was first formed but it did end in an awkward manner. While usual endings included each member hugging one another, and taking a bow to the audience, this time they just shook hands and presented each other with a cake.
