President Trump shared with the world how the US was ready to impose 100% tariffs on Russia if Vladimir Putin did not agree to a peace deal with Ukraine within a period of 50 days.
The president tore into Putin while meeting with the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office as his anger at the Russian dictator boiled amid its escalating attacks on Ukraine.
Trump shared how he would be imposing the very, very powerful secondary tariffs on Russia in 50 days if a deal to end the war is not reached.
‘We are very, very unhappy with Russia, and we are going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don’t have a deal in 50 deals, tariffs would stand at 100%’- the statement read.
President Trump mentioned how he was so disappointed in President Putin, and it was about time someone held him accountable for his actions, as the US felt strongly that they had reached a strong deal with Russia two months back.
However, that has not happened until now, and Trump is not keen on moving forward with Russia without penalizing it for not keeping their word.
The news comes as NATO just struck a deal with the US regarding sending weapons to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles that would assist them in the war.
The fact that the US won’t be footing the bill is major news for many people, as many felt America has been funding the bill for far too long.
