Scientists are issuing a new warning for a doomsday in the form of a tsunami that they claim is getting close to striking.
The latest study found that a colossal earthquake alongside the Cascadia Subduction Zone in the American Pacific Northwest is near to take place by 2100. They also declared how a 37% chance that it could happen at any point in time in the next 50 years.
The CSZ is almost 700 miles, and the fault line is located off the west coast of North America, where one tectonic plate, the Juan de Fuca Plate, slides beneath the other, which is the North American Plate.
This stretches from northern Vancouver Island in Canada to the southern half of the American West Coast, running alongside the coasts of Washington, California, and Oregon.
If this earthquake is between 8.0 to 9.0 in magnitude and it strikes today, scientists shared how a mega 100-foot tsunami might wipe out most of the West Coast as the coastline would drop by nearly 8 feet in an instant.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency shared how the catastrophe could have to 5800 deaths from the CSZ earthquake alone, and another 8000 might be due to a huge tsunami that unleashes in no time.
