On Saturday, as the nation remembered the deadly attacks on the Twin Towers and paid a tribute to the victims, thugs vandalized a South Carolina memorial by spraying the word ‘Taliban’ all over the monument.

As the founder and CEO of Upstate Granite Solutions, Paul Nichols, confirmed, someone went out of their way to desecrate the memorial in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday night.

“We spent the time and money on this monument in order to bring our community together and unite over the memory of those who died on the attacks 20 years ago, as well as, those first responders who willingly laid down their lives to serve others,” Nichols said in an interview with WSPA after the incident.

While the company responsible for overlooking the granite monument designed in the shape of the Twin Towers managed to get rid of the offensive inscriptions, Nichols remains upset by the fact that someone would do this to the memorial on the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

“We’re not going to change our viewpoint and our stance, but I think we need to be willing to hear why other people are hurt about this, so we can come together as a community,” Kelly Nichols of Upstate Granite Solutions added, WYFF reported.

As she added, the company’s only intention was to bring their town together and show the people that “there’s still something to believe in in America.”

According to Kelly, the granite company had no intention of causing division, whereas their only intention was for the two 4,000-pound towers to unify their community.
