The authorities have issued a warning for the people to stay clear of the harbor in a popular Cornwall holiday spot after a gigantic shark was spotted swimming in the waterfront.
The shark is claimed to be 9-feet long and was filmed close to the shore in St Ives. The locals are saying that sharks don’t usually come to the harbor and this gigantic creature is thought to be in the area because it lost its bearings chasing the prey or because it was injured.
According to the footage, the experts believe it is a blue shark and has warned people to keep their distance while it remains in the harbor.
John Richardson of Shark Trust said that blue sharks are predominantly an open, oceanic species and are not commonly found close to shores.
But they are saying that it is certainly not exceptional to see one in such shallow waters. They said that seeing a blue shark swimming freely close to the shore like this is a real privilege and people are lucky enough to be a part of such sighting.
The Shark Trust has advised the public to remain clear of the harbor if it remains in St Ives. They have urged people to give the shark plenty of space until it moves back offshore.
They said that they could only make speculations on why this shark has come too close to the shore. It might be due to illness or injury or perhaps disorientation after chasing prey.
