The mother of the baby claims that the baby was in perfect health in the first 36 hours of her life. She then caught a fever that caused her to be lethargic and she did not eat any food after that.

She says that the virus attacked her lungs and brain; it ate her fragile organs and left her struggling with breath and having seizures.

Although doctors were positive and told Miss Friend and her partner Tyler Hensley that the baby has real hope of surviving, she was declared brain dead on 20th May. Her life support lost the fight and the baby could not survive the war against the virus.

The doctors later told Abigail that her daughter received the virus from a kiss. Someone with the virus must have kissed the little girl and that is how she was infected.

Although the doctors told that the source of the virus was dirty hands or a kiss, it is impossible to actually catch hold of the person where it came from.
