Abigail, the mother of an 8 days old Aliza Rose Friend, is left helpless as her baby dies because of Herpes and refers to it as “the kiss of death.
It is never easy to lose a loved one to death, especially when it is a newborn baby. The HSV-1 virus developed neonatal herpes in the body of the 8 days old and killed it.
The mother of the baby claims that the baby was in perfect health in the first 36 hours of her life. She then caught a fever that caused her to be lethargic and she did not eat any food after that.
She says that the virus attacked her lungs and brain; it ate her fragile organs and left her struggling with breath and having seizures.
Although doctors were positive and told Miss Friend and her partner Tyler Hensley that the baby has real hope of surviving, she was declared brain dead on 20th May. Her life support lost the fight and the baby could not survive the war against the virus.
The doctors later told Abigail that her daughter received the virus from a kiss. Someone with the virus must have kissed the little girl and that is how she was infected.
To generate awareness about the same, she posted a picture on Facebook and asked people to wash their hands and to not kiss babies.
She has been living with her daughter’s thoughts since that day. She never thought something so vulnerable will take her daughter away from her.
Although the doctors told that the source of the virus was dirty hands or a kiss, it is impossible to actually catch hold of the person where it came from.
Abigail says Aliza was fine for a day and a half but after that, she was unwell. It took 6 and a half days for the virus to destroy her body.
A few friends and family members came to see the mother and the daughter but there is no trace who gave the virus as it is a very common virus.
