It is always a sorrow to lose some who is close to your heart.
It is the law of nature, everything that is born has to die one day, but the law is never enough to cremate the condiments of the closed ones of the deceased. The law does not only apply to the human species but it affects many other species. But just like humans, elephants are also social animals and they are very close to us when it comes to express their grief over the death of a loved one.
Elephants are giant creatures that need a heard or a family of several of their kind to survive through life. Living in a heard it is obvious to develop a love for each member of the heard and even for the members who are just related to the herd. Elephants tend to show love as well as their sorrows in quite a similar mode as humans do.
When a leader of the herd of Elephants died, the locals were shocked to see more than 300 elephants gathering around the deceased’s body to express their grief.
The scene was nothing like someone might have seen before and it breaks a heart.
When the leader of the herd died because of a fight with a rival of the group, the Giants couldn’t stop themselves from mourning out loud due to the heartbreak.
The locals of Anuradhapura, close to the Kalawewa reserve in Sri Lanka saw the incident and recorded the video on their phone. In the video, a gigantic elephant is lying dead on the ground. Elephants tend to have too much love and so did this herd. After the elephants died, one after one, many elephants came near his body. They creased his body with their trunks and mourned aloud. The locals said the gathering was of more than 300 elephants
It is proved in research conducted by Oxford University in the year 2006 that elephants are emotionally impacted by the death of a loved one and they even nurse the sick to get them healthy soon. They mourn and express their feelings out.
