Woman Has Passed Away After She Jumped From The Bridge Before Her Cord Had Been Attached


A 25-year-old woman has tragically died after she jumped from a 40-meter bridge in northern Colombia before her bungee cord had been attached.

Yecenia Morales reportedly jumped after she heard the ‘go’ signal meant for her boyfriend, who was ahead of her and already had his cord fastened.

According to the Daily Star, the incident was filmed by another tourist.

Around 100 people were waiting in line when the tragic incident happened.

Yecenia was with her boyfriend who was already attached to his bungee cord and ahead of her in line for the jump.

The 25-year-old’s cord had not been attached to her ankles when she heard the go signal meant for her boyfriend.

It is believed that she suffered a fatal heart attack and had passed away before emergency services arrived.

Yecenia’s boyfriend was the first to reach her. He is reportedly receiving treatment for injuries he sustained from trying to reach her in the valley.

The Mayor of the municipality of Fredonia, Antioquia, Gustavo Guzman, told El Tiempo: “She got confused. The signal was for the boyfriend to jump because he was already attached to the security equipment.

“They had only put the harness on her so she got confused and rushed.”

Yecenia’s grieving brother Andres Morales said she loved to dance and read. “My sister is a girl with all the best values, happy, spontaneous, with virtues that made her love her friends, and helped the people in need.”

Yecenia was buried in the Simon Bolivar neighborhood where she lived with her family.
